4 Easy Steps To Cancel A Chegg Subscription
PUBLISHED: Jan 30, 2024
Graduating from college? That means you’re probably ready to enter the workforce, start paying off student loans and gain valuable life experience.
If you’re graduating, you’re probably ready to say goodbye to your Chegg subscription, as well. Canceling unneeded monthly subscriptions is a great way to free up money in your budget to work toward important financial goals.
Let’s look at the cancellation process for your Chegg subscription, starting with a review of what Chegg offers.
What Is Chegg And What Does It Do?
Chegg is an online platform for students. It provides subscribers with services like:
● Physical and digital textbook rental
● Homework help and online tutoring
● Career advice
● Resources for finding scholarships and internships
Subscriptions start at $14.95 per month.
Should You Pause Or Cancel Your Chegg Subscription?
First, let’s make sure you’re in the right situation to cancel rather than just pause your Chegg subscription.
What are some good reasons to pause rather than cancel your subscription?
● You’re headed into summer break with no plans to take classes
● You’re graduating, but plan to jump back into academia to earn a higher degree
The benefit of pausing is that you’ll lock in your current subscription price, maintain your current account settings and won’t incur charges during the pause. When it’s time to hit the books again, you can easily unpause.
What Happens When You Cancel Your Chegg Subscription?
Canceling your Chegg subscription does not delete your account. If you cancel the subscription, you can reactivate if you ever need the platform again. You won’t have access to the platform’s benefits once the current billing cycle is over.
If you cancel and subscribe later, you may not be able to keep your current rate and settings.
How To Pause A Chegg Subscription
Here are step-by-step instructions for using a laptop or desktop computer to pause your subscription.
- Log in to the Chegg website and go to My Account.
- Click on Orders.
- Under Subscriptions, choose either Chegg Study or Chegg Study Pack (which one you choose matters).
- If you choose Chegg Study, just click “Pause subscription,” choose the length of the pause (up to 6 months) and click “Pause subscription” again.
- If you have a Chegg Study Pack subscription, click “Cancel subscription” (this might seem counterintuitive, but it’s what Chegg recommends). Look for “Tell us why you’re canceling,” select “Class Ended/Graduated” and click “Continue.” Look for the pause option on the next screen, choose the duration and click the “Pause subscription” button.
4 Steps To Cancel Your Chegg Subscription
Permanently canceling your Chegg subscription is easy, but you’ll need to access your account using a laptop or desktop computer. Just follow these steps.
- Once you’ve signed into your account, go to My Account.
- Click Orders.
- Look for the Subscriptions tab, select the one you want to cancel and click “Continue.”
- Select one of the options under “Tell us why you’re canceling” and click “Continue.”
Chegg will cancel your subscription once you’re finished, but you’ll still have access to the subscription until the end of the current billing cycle.
