7 Savings Hacks
Here are 7 quick tips to help you save money on some of the most popular subscription plans around.
Save $20/year On Spotify
Instead of paying $10/month (or $120/year), you can get a year of Spotify for only $99 by buying a 12-month Spotify Premium gift card from stores like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy or GameStop.
Save $40-$139/year On Amazon Prime
Switch to an annual plan and you'll only pay $139/year, instead of $14.99/month (or about $180/year). Switching is as easy as logging into your Amazon account and changing your plan details.
You can also share your Amazon Prime benefit with one adult and up to four teens (or children) by going to your Amazon Prime Membership, locating the “Share Your Prime Benefits” area, and selecting “Manage Your Household.” This way, you save $139/year while you and your partner share the same benefits!
Save $30/year On HBO Max
By switching to an annual ad-free plan, you only pay $149.99/year, instead of $14.99/month (or about $180/year) for the monthly plan. That's like getting 2 months free.
Save $16/year On Hulu
If you're currently paying $7.99/month (or $96/year), switch to an annual plan and pay only $80/year. Just visit your Hulu account page to make the switch.
Save $30/year On Audible
Switch to an annual plan and you'll only pay $149.50/year, instead of $180/year for a monthly plan. Choosing an annual plan will unlock the Plus Catalog along with immediate access to 12 credits for any premium selection titles.
Save $16/year On Disney+
If you're currently paying $7.99/month (or $96/year), switch to an annual plan and you'll only pay $80/year. Just visit your Disney+ account settings and choose "Switch to Annual and Save".
Save 50% On PlayStation
Switch to an annual plan and you'll only pay $60/year, instead of $120/year for a monthly plan. If you're hesitant to commit to an annual plan, you can also save around $20/year by switching to a recurring 3-month plan.
Other Ways To Save
In addition to updating your must-have subscriptions, there are other ways to save. Whether it’s completely canceling unwanted subscriptions, bill negotiation, or creating an overall budget, Rocket MoneySM can help with it all.
Cancel An Unwanted Subscription
Rocket Money does more than simply track subscriptions for you – it can even cancel most of them! To find your subscriptions, visit the “Recurring” tab, select the subscription you’d like to cancel, and let Rocket Money do the rest of the work for you.
Lower A Bill
Think you might be paying too much for a bill or utility? Have Rocket Money negotiate a bill for you! Rocket Money will take a small percentage of any savings negotiated, but with an 85% success rate in negotiating bills for our users, we’ve saved our members over $245M to date! To get started, visit the Dashboard tab and scroll down to “Lower your bills.”
Remove Yourself From Shopping Email Lists
If you’re like most people, you probably have too many emails in your inbox. Consider unsubscribing from store email lists that prompt you to check out the latest sale for things you don’t necessarily need. If something specific comes to mind that you want, you can always visit their store directly or go to the website on your own.
Wait 48 Hours Before Making A Purchase
Trying to cut back on your spending? The next time you’re tempted to make an impulse purchase, wait 48 hours to see if it’s something you still want or need. If so, then you might consider making the purchase. If not, it’s likely that expense is something you can do without and you put that money toward another expense or goal instead.
Set A Budget
Lastly, do not underestimate the power of tracking your spending when it comes to saving money. The best way to do this is to set up a budget, which you can easily do within Rocket Money by clicking “Start a Budget” in the Spending tab or visiting the Gear icon.
