Financial tracking apps can be an easy and effective way to manage your finances. Brigit is one popular example, where, for a monthly subscription fee, users gain access to premium features such as credit building and monitoring, identity theft protection, cash advances and more.

While a paid Brigit membership offers many benefits, you might consider canceling your subscription to save extra money and pay off debt faster. In this article, we’ll walk through how to cancel your Brigit subscription.

Ways To Cancel Your Brigit Subscription

Canceling unnecessary subscriptions is a practical way to cut spending in your life. There are several ways to cancel your Brigit subscription including through the Brigit website, the app or through email. Keep in mind that canceling your subscription is different from deleting your Brigit account.

The Website

One way to cancel your Brigit subscription is through the Brigit website. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Using a computer or mobile device, go to www.hellobrigit.com on the browser of your choice.
  2. Click “Log in” and sign into your account using a registered email address or phone number.
  3. Next, find “Settings” and then tap “My Subscription.”
  4. You’ll then see the option to manage your subscription tier. For example, you can switch your Premium subscription to Plus. Or downgrade from Plus to the Free subscription.
  5. If you have Credit Builder, you must close that feature in the app to downgrade your subscription.
  6. Click your way through each confirmation screen to make sure your cancellation is complete.

The Brigit App

Another convenient way to cancel your Brigit subscription is through the Brigit app.

  1. Open the Brigit app.
  2. On the home page, find your profile icon located in the top right corner.
  3. Click on “Account Settings.”
  4. Next, scroll down and tap “My Subscription” to access information regarding your subscription status.
  5. If you have Credit Builder, shut that feature down before downgrading your subscription tier.
  6. Follow the prompts on the confirmation screens to downgrade or cancel your subscription.

Email

If you run into any issues canceling your subscription through the Brigit website or app, you can also cancel by emailing info@hellobrigit.com for help.

Not quite sure what to say? You can keep your email short and sweet. Once you’re in touch with a Brigit team member, they’ll request any necessary information and help you cancel your subscription.

A Financial App

Since there are countless financial apps available, it may be helpful to test out a variety to decide which one is right for your financial goals and needs. The Rocket MoneySM app is a one-stop shop for creating a budget, automating your savings, credit tracking, negotiating bills and even tracking and canceling subscriptions.

How To Unlink Your Bank Account From Brigit

If your bank account is currently being used for a cash advance through Brigit, you cannot unlink your account until the advance has been fully repaid.

Currently, the Brigit website or app doesn’t offer a way to unlink your bank account without completely deleting your account. However, it is possible to switch your linked bank account through the app with the following steps:

  1. Tap on your profile icon located in the top right corner of the home page.
  2. Select “Connected Bank Account.”
  3. Click on the green button that says “Switch to another bank.”
  4. Follow the prompts to switch your linked bank account.

How To Verify Your Brigit Subscription Has Been Canceled

To verify you’re no longer paying for a subscription, head over to “My Subscription” on the Brigit website or in the app. Your subscription status should show as “Free” if it has been properly canceled.

If you’ve successfully deleted your Brigit account, you will receive an email saying your account has been deleted. Once your account has been deleted, you’ll need to wait 60 days before opening up another Brigit account.
